This blend combines the four varieties growing on the 200 hectares of Finca Badenes — Picual, Frantoio, Arbequina, and Empeltre — and each contributes a different dimension. It is not a blend designed in a laboratory: it is the result of what grows together on the same estate. When I taste it, I notice that the Frantoio adds notes that a typical Jaen blend simply does not have.
Know every detail

Finca Badenes is a family estate of 200 hectares in Jabalquinto, Jaen. Grandfather Matias bought it in 1965. Today the family cultivates four varieties — Picual, Frantoio, Arbequina, and Empeltre — with the mill and bottling plant at the heart of the property. The entire process happens within the estate.
This blend combines the four varieties growing on those 200 hectares. It is not a blend of convenience — it is an assemblage designed with what the land provides. Frantoio, an Italian variety rarely found in Jaen, is what makes this blend different: it adds a layer of complexity that a blend using only local varieties would not achieve.
The Finca Badenes blend received a mention in the Best Tank category at the Expoliva Quality Awards. Proof that more than Picual is grown in Jaen, and that a family controlling the entire process — from tree to assemblage — can create an oil with a personality you will not find on any other estate.
Four varieties from a single estate, including Frantoio, which is a rarity in Jaen. We stock it because that combination creates a balanced oil that works for everything, and because we like our customers to discover that more than Picual is grown in Jaen.

Extra virgin olive oil is a fresh product. Its quality depends on proper storage and consuming it within its optimal date. If an online shop does not tell you which lot it will ship or when it expires, you have no way of knowing if what you receive is from this harvest or two years ago.
Be wary of shops that do not publish this information. We show it because we believe you have the right to know exactly what you are buying.

Cuatro: Picual, Frantoio, Arbequina y Empeltre.
