Tasting notes
A Picual with an intense aroma of green leaf, fig tree, and tomato plant. Notes of freshly cut grass, banana peel, and aromatic herbs appear. On the palate it shows its character immediately, with a very well-balanced bitterness and pungency. The aftertaste recalls green nuts, chard, and lettuce stem.
Pairing
Pairs with Iberian cured meats on toast, aged cheeses, and pates. Ideal for potato, quinoa, or pasta-based salads, adding its vegetal touches. Ideal for making gazpachos and salmorejos. For desserts with fruit such as strawberries or pairings with dark chocolate and orange.
This Limited Edition from Finca las Manillas has an intense green fruitiness with fig tree and tomato plant that reminds me of classic highland Picuals. The bitter and pungent notes are very well balanced, and that aftertaste of green nuts and lettuce stem reveals impeccable milling. Four generations making oil since 1878 show in every detail.
Know every detail

Finca las Manillas has been producing oil since 1878. Four generations of the same family on an olive grove at the foot of Sierra Morena, between the sierras of Andujar and Despenaperros, in the Condado de Jaen district. They produce oil only from their own harvest: what comes from their trees is what they bottle. They do not buy olives from third parties or blend with outside production.
The grove has two zones: the centuries-old highland plantation within the sierra, and newer trees on the lower hills. The Limited Edition is made only from the best batches of the harvest — the first olives, the trees that produced the best fruit that year. Harvested in November, with the olive still green, and milled on the same day. A small production that is not repeated until the following season.
Finca las Manillas has won the Jaen Seleccion, Gran Prestige Gold at Terraolivo (Israel) in 2016, and Best in Class at the NYIOOC in New York in 2017. The Limited Edition is the oil that explains those awards: a highland Picual, from centuries-old trees, selected from the best of each season. A Picual that makes no apologies.
The limited edition from Finca las Manillas is what happens when four generations of olive growers select the very best of their harvest. Mercedes tasted it and described it in one word: 'Impeccable.' Since then, each season we secure our allocation before it sells out.

Extra virgin olive oil is a fresh product. Its quality depends on proper storage and consuming it within its optimal date. If an online shop does not tell you which lot it will ship or when it expires, you have no way of knowing if what you receive is from this harvest or two years ago.
Be wary of shops that do not publish this information. We show it because we believe you have the right to know exactly what you are buying.
