Tasting notes
A nose of green grass with some green leaf touches. Notes of banana, green almond and red tomato appear. On the palate it enters sweet, with a peppery touch at the finish. The aftertaste is of nuts and pear. An olive oil with a green nose and an almond-like palate.
Pairing
Ideal for making all kinds of sauces, contributing a delicate peppery touch. Pairs wonderfully with grilled or salt-baked fish, adding flavour without stealing the spotlight from the fish. For baking it is an unrivalled ally. Pairs with Greek yoghurt topped with fruit or with a fresh fruit salad.
Almaoliva is the most approachable face of the cooperative that produces Rincon de la Subbetica. This Arbequina grown at 600 metres in the Sierras Subbeticas has a green nose and an almond-like palate -- a combination that works very well for those just beginning to explore EVOO. The peppery touch at the finish gives it that edge that makes it interesting without being aggressive.
Know every detail

Almaoliva comes from the same cooperative that produces Rincon de la Subbetica -- Almazaras de la Subbetica, in Carcabuey, Cordoba. Over 7,000 farming families, the same Sierras Subbeticas, the same rigour. The difference is the variety: Arbequina instead of Hojiblanca. Where the Rincon is green intensity, the Almaoliva is the cooperative's more approachable side.
Arbequina grown at 600 metres altitude, on limestone soils and with extreme temperatures, is not the same as in Catalonia or the Ebro Valley. The olive concentrates nuances that do not appear in more comfortable terrains. Early harvest and cold extraction on the same day as picking, following the same protocol used for their most awarded oil.
First prize at Expoliva at the national level. Over 20 annual awards and a constant presence in the EVOO World Ranking TOP 10, with more than 1,000 points accumulated in the world ranking. It is not the little sibling of the Rincon: it is another expression of the same cooperative, with its own track record.
It comes from the same cooperative that produces Rincon de la Subbetica, but it is its friendlier face. We stock it because there are customers who want the quality of the Subbetica without the intensity of the Hojiblanca. And because an Arbequina with over 20 annual awards deserves a place in any self-respecting oleoteca.

· martes, 14 de abrilSupermarket Arbequina typically comes from intensive lowland orchards with heavy irrigation aimed at maximising yield. This one grows at 600 metres altitude on the limestone soils of the Subbetica range, with less water and more stress. The result: less quantity but more concentrated aromas. The growing conditions matter as much as the variety.
Yes, compared to a Picual or the Rincon de la Subbetica. It has a sweet entry and an almond profile that makes it approachable for any palate. But do not mistake it for an anonymous oil — it has won more than 20 awards per year and is in the world TOP 10.
Yes. Arbequina performs well in cooking. It works for sauteing, sauces, baking and light frying. But where it truly shines is raw: white fish, cold soups, desserts.
It does not carry organic certification. It is a conventional oil, unlike the Rincon de la Subbetica which is organic. Both come from the same cooperative.
The Almaoliva Arbequino does not carry the DOP Priego de Cordoba. The designation only covers the Picuda, Hojiblanca and Picual varieties, and Arbequina is not among them.

Extra virgin olive oil is a fresh product. Its quality depends on proper storage and consuming it within its optimal date. If an online shop does not tell you which lot it will ship or when it expires, you have no way of knowing if what you receive is from this harvest or two years ago.
Be wary of shops that do not publish this information. We show it because we believe you have the right to know exactly what you are buying.
