MOCA is our oil. The one from Molino y Cata. After years selecting the finest EVOOs from Spain, we wanted to have one that represents exactly what we believe an extra virgin for everyday use should be: real quality, no artifice, at a price that lets you use it daily. It is the Picual we put on our table every morning and the one we would like you to put on yours.

MOCA is our oil. The one from Molino y Cata. The one we put on our table every day and the one we want you to put on yours. After years selecting the finest EVOOs from across Spain, we wanted to have one that represents exactly what we believe an extra virgin olive oil for everyday use should be: real quality, no artifice, at a price that lets you use it daily without guilt.
It is a Picual from Jaen, harvested at the start of the season when the olive is still green and concentrates all its potential. We select it ourselves — Mercedes tastes every batch — and it does not leave our cellar until she gives the approval. Jaen produces 20% of all the olive oil in the world and is the birthplace of Picual: the variety with the highest oleic acid and polyphenol content on the market.
MOCA does not compete with the boutique monovarietals we carry in the oleoteca. It competes with the oil you currently have in your kitchen that is probably not extra virgin. It is the first step. The change you notice from the very first breakfast. We buy it directly from the producer — no middlemen, no distribution chain. From the mill to our cellar and from there to your home.
Because it is ours. It is the oil we put on our table, the one we use every morning, the one we give to our family. After years selecting the best oils from Spain, we wanted one of our own that represents what we believe: that a real extra virgin should be in every kitchen, not just those of enthusiasts.

MOCA is the own brand of Molino y Cata. It is the oil that Jeronimo and Mercedes select directly for their oleoteca and online shop. It is not a white-label oil: every batch is tasted and approved by Mercedes Uceda, a professional taster and professor at the University of Jaen.
From olive groves in Jaen. Picual variety, harvested at the beginning of the campaign when the olives are still green and at their full potential. Jaen produces 20% of all the olive oil in the world and is the birthplace of Picual.
Because Picual has the highest oleic acid content (75-82%) and polyphenol levels on the market. It is the most stable variety, the one that keeps best, and the one that best withstands cooking heat. If you are going to have only one oil at home, make it Picual.
For everything. Picual is the most versatile and stable variety there is. Sauteing, frying, stews, salads, toast. It is the everyday oil — the one you cannot be without.
Because the format is larger (2 and 5 litres) and because we buy directly from the producer. No middlemen, no distribution chain. From the mill to our warehouse and from there to your home. Good oil, fair price.

Extra virgin olive oil is a fresh product. Its quality depends on proper storage and consuming it within its optimal date. If an online shop does not tell you which lot it will ship or when it expires, you have no way of knowing if what you receive is from this harvest or two years ago.
Be wary of shops that do not publish this information. We show it because we believe you have the right to know exactly what you are buying.
Stored in a dark, cool place, a Picual EVOO maintains its properties perfectly for 12-18 months from bottling. Once opened, consume it within 2-3 months to enjoy it at its best. Keep it away from light and heat.
